  • Management often doesn't understand
  • How to populate cool stuff in the organization
  • How do we help our leaders keep up?
    • Empathy
      • not very comfortable to not understand whats going on
  • Become the teacher
    • tech stuff
    • reading proposals
    • do it in private ;-)
  • Assign work to you manager
    • everybody likes to feel useful
      • accomplishment is fun :-)
        • probably lost by managers
    • have a manager-backlog, put task on Taskboard
    • tasks to assign to a manager:
      • how does the company smartly spend resources (e.g. 3 teams do the same thing)
  • help your Boss succeed
    • measure bugs, commits, deployments, stories
      • => not personalized
    • the more the manager is successful, the more the team is successful, more trust, more freedom
    • "Its amazing what you can accomplish, when nobody care who takes the credit"
    • Let the manager get the credit
    • Keep up a good communication
  • think different
    • normally, if you find something that works, you stick with it
      • have empathy for people that need to adopt a new way of thinking
      • start with the user
        • make experiments, measure behavior
        • how does this solve the user problem? Light Bulb moments, which questions changed my way of thinking?
          • Ask questions to guide people
      • Why are project plans useless?
        • Do we hire smart, capable and rational?
        • Does everyone have the right information to make good choises?
        • Is everybody working hard?
  • Complexity Balance & Communication
    • Simplify your communication
